Tucked between countries, Laos food has been influenced by Thai Cuisine and Chinese both. Let’s start our journey to the food delights instead of the cheeky postcard photographs. If you are an avid foodie, this culinary paradise country will drive you crazy. The cuisine is rich in flavors, herbs, and some fresh ingredients. Keep reading...

Jaew Bong: Dipping sauce for many Dishes:

Being one of the staple food, Jaew made sauces are used in almost all the Lao dishes. Jaew Bong can be found in nearly all the restaurants. The sauce comprises of some basic elements like buffalo fat and red chili sauce. Here the red chili sauce means shallots, garlic, chilies, lime, tamarind, palm sugar and more. Jaew Bong is presented with dishes like steamed fish, grilled meat, vegetables, and sticky rice. The taste is a perfect amalgamation of strong flavors, sweetness, and spiciness.

Laos Sticky rice:

This is the main staple food of the country and consumed in almost every meal. The shape of the rice is elongated and white in color which is the main characteristic why it differs from the grains of rice in various other regions. The rice doesn’t stick to hands and an amazing part of the delicacy is, it is cooked and served in a hot bamboo basket that gives a very attractive aroma to it. The finger-licking rice is accompanied by grilled chicken, boiled vegetables and other spicy dinner items.

Sindad:

This specialty is a perfect combination of grilled and hot pots. The center of the pot has a round griddle around the tray. Along with this, you can enjoy the hot pot and also the flavor of the grill depending on your choice. It is one of the richest foods in Laos and is also considered the best in the country.

Now let’s shift our taste buds to Cambodia delicacies:

The scintillating country of Angkor Wat also offers a taste of unique dishes that will win your heart.

Amok Fish:

If you want to experience the taste of the country, this is a must-try dish in Cambodia. Amok is made from coconut milk, tamarind juice, and prohok. The final mixture is wrapped in a banana leaf. To add to the flavors, grated beef, sugar, and eggs are blended into the mixture and cooked together. Also, a local herb named slok Ngor is added and wrapped into the Banana leaf.

Khmer Red curry:

This is a healthy food prepared from beef, chicken, eggplant, green beans, potatoes, coconut milk, and very less chilli. For the tourists who prefer to eat healthy and less spicy food, this is the best option. Often served with bread, Khmer Red curry is influenced by French and eaten on special occasions like weddings, family gatherings, and festival celebrations.

Lap Khmer:

Highly popular as beef salad, the main ingredients are sliced beef marinated with lemon, mixed with lemongrass, garlic, onions, fish sauce and an excess of fresh chilies. This dish is highly popular amongst men in Cambodia and should not be missed on your Cambodia Tour Package.

We hope you enjoy these appetizing delicacies while you travel in the lap of nature. The country is full of exciting culinary which may not have been mentioned here. Have a happy and delightful stay with the Laos tour package.
